On Wednesday evening sadly INVOKE failed to impress at Kempton. She took a keen hold early on and chased the leading pair. She was driven two furlongs out and weakened just over a furlong from home.
On Thursday we had declared MY STRATEGY at Brighton. He still looked very green, hanging away to his right and ending up in the middle of the track. He looks like he will be one for handicaps later on when he gets a mark. In the evening GEORGE CINQ started things off for us at Wolverhampton. He ran much better, than his final position suggests, as he was not quickly into his stride from a wide draw. He was then short of room in the latter stages of the race which did not help his chances. He has had a long season and it is great news that he will be returning for next year. Later on the card BORN TO RAIN sadly failed to impress trying two miles for the first time. He chased the leaders and did not get the clearest of runs and lost his place. He is entered in the Ascot Sales where hopefully someone will take a shine to him as he is a lovely kind horse who deserves a lovely home.
On Friday we had declared THUNDER IN MYHEART in the nursery at Newmarket. She was steadied at the start and appeared to take a keen hold when held up towards rear. She was pushed along just over two furlongs and never really looked to ever be travelling. We rounded the day off at Wolverhampton with SILVER MIRAGE in the apprentice handicap. She took her time to respond to pressure before staying on late over this trip. She is certainly capable of winning and maybe would just appreciate a bit further.
Yesterday BIG ORANGE took his chance at Ascot stepping back up in class and trip. He got away smartly and led in the early stages of the race. He was passed in the run to the line, but put up a solid performance in defeat. He is a horse who is certainly one to look forward to next season. In the evening we were delighted to see ROCK OF LEON get his head in front. His owners have been so patient, so it was especially pleasing to see him win. He had proven form over this trip and was switched off in a handy position in midfield. He came through to be ridden to lead when hanging left from over one furlong out staying on to win. He heads into the Horses in Training Sales on the back of this win and this can only enhance his sale. He will certainly make into a lovely jump horse.
Tomorrow we have declared two runners starting the afternoon off at Pontefract with INSTANT KARMA. He seems to keep improving and is certainly lightly raced. He looks to be a nice horse and hopefully he will give a good account of himself. At Windsor we have declared NAM HAI in the amateur rider’s race. He is certainly capable of winning in this grade and he is another who is Horses in Training Sales bound.
There were no horses working yesterday as we are starting to come to the end of the season. The yearlings have started being broken now and we have a couple that have already been ridden. Check out the Horses for Sale page and maybe grab yourself a bargain! We have four, that are for sale and they certainly look a nice bunch.
