On Wednesday evening we had declared the two runners at Kempton. We started the evening off with AROUSAL. She was steadied at the start and looked to take a keen hold. She was in touch in the last quartet, but could make no progress and never troubled the leaders. We had expected a better effort from her and hopefully we will be able to find a race she can be competitive in shortly. Later in the evening BY JUPITER dwelt at the start and made some good headway to chase the leaders after two furlongs out. She went to lead and was driven and beaten over one furlong out. She should easily have won her maiden by now and hopefully we will be able to get her head in front soon.
On Thursday VALEN had her first start on the all weather at Wolverhampton. She was held up and made some headway when slightly hampered over one furlong out. She stayed on at the same pace inside final furlong to finish third. It was a better effort from the filly.
On Friday we started the afternoon off at Doncaster where BANZARI had been stepped up into group class. She finished nicely after being settled towards the rear of the field. She would certainly have appreciated some more cut in the ground and should have no trouble winning back down in grade. Our only other runner was at Sandown where INVOKE took her chance. She looked to do too much early on in the first-time visor and paid the penalty towards the end of the race.
Today we have declared WIGMORE HALL and JARGON at Doncaster and GRACELAND and ZACYNTHUS at Lingfield. WIGMORE HALL should have a good chance if he finds the going suitable. He looks in good shape and hopefully will be able to recreate his Newmarket run. JARGON looks a smart horse and heads into the race on the back of two wins. It would be great if he could keep this run going. At Lingfield GRACELAND takes her chance and she looks a really smart individual. She has really come on for her first run at Newmarket and should give a good account of herself. We round off the meeting with ZACYNTHUS and he is more than capable of being competitive in this grade.
On Monday we have declared JAYEFF HERRING who is not certain to get a run. He was slightly unlucky last time having been forced wide and hopefully if he does get in, the draw will be kinder to him. Later on the card DRASTIC ART makes her racecourse debut. She is a sweet filly, who really tries her heart out. Hopefully she can give a good account of herself. We round off the day with ROCK OF LEON. It is frustrating that we have not managed to get a win out of him yet and hopefully he will finally have his day.
