On Thursday we sent the three runners to Salisbury. We started the afternoon off with BANZARI. She was held up behind and was ridden when switched to the centre of the field. He made some headway well over one furlong out and ran on strongly inside the final furlong to finish second. Later on the card SAMPERA was held up towards the rear. She raced in a midfield three furlongs out and was soon ridden. She is sure to have come on for run and she will not look so green next time. Our last runner was TOUCHLINE. She did not run as well as expected, stepping up a good deal in grade. She was travelling well two furlongs from home, but found less than expected when coming off the bridle. We will monitor her progress and see how she is over the next week before making further plans. At Haydock we started the afternoon off with HALA HALA. She contested the pace early on and faded back to fifth from over one furlong out. She had been in good form prior to the race and it was shame not to see a better effort. Our last runner at the meeting was STORYTALE. He missed the start and never got into the race after that. He is a nice horse and we expect better from him next time.
On Friday we had declared the two runners at Chepstow. We started the afternoon off with HOT MUSTARD. He led early on and was ridden three furlongs out He soon weakened and did not run his true race. Maybe he is showing the effects of a long season and would be better for a break. Later on the card the lightly raced ALMAX was stepped back up in trip in a first-time visor. He was never far away, but could only plug on after coming under pressure. Hopefully we can find a race he can be successful in before the season ends.
On Saturday we started the afternoon off at Ascot. Our first runner at the meeting was AKEED CHAMPION. He ran a blinder on his debut run and we were delighted with his effort. He took time to settle towards the near side without cover and the more experienced winner just got first run on him. He should go close next time after this racecourse experience. Later on the card GALIZZI caught the eye not finding the best of passages when making his run and possibly cost his a chance of coming to win the race. He remains on an upward curve since his gelding operation. We ended the meeting with RISKIT FORA BISKIT. She was the overall leader on the far side and was headed and faded just inside final furlong. At Kempton GEORGE CINQ was back over a more favourable trip on this return to the Polytrack. He finished off well against the inside rail and ran his race, but looks on a stiff handicap mark now. We rounded the afternoon off with MANTOU who was unlucky on his last start at York when the saddle slipped. He chased the leaders and was ridden to lead over two furlongs out. He was soon headed and weakened over one furlong out and was eased.
On Monday we have declared BORN TO REIGN. We have applied blinkers for the first time and hopefully this will bring enough improvement out for him to gain his first success.
On Tuesday we have declared a nice two-year-old colt called MEZAJY at Leicester. He has been working nicely at home and hopefully he will give a good account of himself. He looks to be shaping up into a nice horse.
