After the withdrawal of MALVIA due to the extremely soft ground, it left us with the one runner on Monday at Windsor and that was TAPER TANTRUM. It was a decent looking nursery and won in gutsy fashion and followed up last month’s Sandown maiden win under a fantastic Ryan Moore ride. He set off in front and saw out this extra furlong well. He was joined, if not headed inside the final furlong and showed a fine attitude to knuckle down to the task in hand. He should have more to come.

Today we start the evening off at Kempton where GRAND MEISTER is looking to do himself justice in the apprentice handicap. He was disappointing last time, but hopefully we have found a race he can be competitive in. At Yarmouth we start the evening off with VALEN who heads into the race in good form. She should give a good account of herself and will hopefully do herself justice. We round off the evening with DORSET GIFT. She has failed to make any impression in any of her three starts so far and hopefully on this her handicap debut she can prove competitive.

Tomorrow we start the afternoon off at Newmarket with STONE ROSES. She has impressed in her work on Saturday and appears to be in good shape. She is a filly that has always been well liked and should run well. Later on the card RAVEN RIDGE makes a return to the track having been gelded and hopefully this will now make him use the talent we know he possesses.

On Friday we start the afternoon off at Newcastle where MANTOU takes his chance. He certainly did not perform last time and will hopefully he will be seen back to his best here. At Nottingham we have declared recent Newbury winner THATCHEREEN. She gets into the race with bottom weight and it would be great to see her go in again. Later on the card BORN TO REIGN is making his handicap debut and although he has not shown a great deal in his maiden runs so far we expect him to be competitive here. We round off the day with two runners at Newmarket. LE ROUQUIN is making his racecourse debut. He is a beautiful looking horse who certainly has ability, but will probably just need the run. We end the day with the consistent HOT MUSTARD hoping to get his head back in front after a good effort at Yarmouth to finish second on his last start. He has run up a sequence of seconds now and certainly deserves to go one better.
