On Thursday we were disappointed with the effort shown by BOURBON PRINCE at Yarmouth. Dropped in grade he dropped away tamely and is becoming frustrating as certainly on his form he should have been in with a chance. Later on the card HALA HALA looked slightly unlucky just failing to get up towards the line. She came with a strong challenge up the stands rail but was just outstayed near the line. This was an improved effort and she should remain competitive off this mark. HOT MUSTARD again gave another good effort and appears to like the seaside track. The winner got first run on him and that proved the difference. He is in again on Friday at Newmarket and we will see how he is before making further plans. He is not the easiest to win with but should continue to run well off this mark. At Haydock SILVER MIRAGE again proved disappointing. She tried different tactics this time and was still in front heading down to the furlong pole before dropping away.
On Friday we had declared a nice two-year-old colt making his racecourse debut called BANDITRY at Newmarket. He was prominent for a long way before weakening when getting tired. He is sure to come on for the run and should be more streetwise next time.
On Saturday SAVOY SHOWGIRL failed to impress in her engagement at Newmarket stepped up in class. Held up towards the rear she dropped right out with two furlongs left to run and James Doyle her rider felt that she had ran flat. We were delighted in the evening when WHITE VIN JAN went in at Lingfield. She raced handy and saw the trip out best inside the final furlong. She can progress from here and should get further.
Today we have declared PIAZON at Leicester. He should appreciate the softer ground and hopefully after some decent efforts should go close.
Tomorrow we have declared a nice two year old maiden making his racecourse debut called MALVIA. We have always thought a lot of him and he was showing plenty early on. A few niggley little problems have kept him off the track, but hopefully with that behind him he will give a good account of himself. Our only other runner is TAPER TANTRUM who won nicely at Sandown on his last start and appears to have improved again for that run.
Yesterday the horses worked on the Back of the Flat Gallop
