Sunday 3rd August

August 3, 2014

On Thursday we started the afternoon off at Nottingham with BORN TO REIGN. He raced in touch and was ridden along over three furlongs out. He was soon outpaced and ran on to finish sixth. He has now had enough runs to make him eligible for a handicap mark and hopefully he can now prove competitive in his grade. Later on the card ROCK OF LEON was tackling two miles for the first time. He came to challenge up the far rail, but his effort flattened out inside the final furlong. He probably would have benefited from a bit more juice in the ground and hopefully we can find a winning opportunity for him as he certainly has been running with consistency. At Goodwood we started the afternoon off with the recent Newmarket runner up THUNDER IN MYHEART taking her chance. She enjoyed the run of the race out in front early on and was picked off rather too easily. She is definitely a filly with a future, but may just be suited by more cut in the ground and a more conventional track. GEORGE CINQ again ran with credit in the apprentice handicap under Cam Hardie. He was dropped out last and although he stayed on well as he weaved through the field inside the last two furlongs. He never looked like getting on terms with the front pair and finished third. Our only other runner was at Ffos Las where WEDDING WISH had made the long journey to Wales. On her form you would have expected her to go close. She led early on and was ridden over two furlongs out. She was unable to quicken and soon lost second.

On Saturday after the withdrawal of SAVOY SHOWGIRL and MIDAS HAZE at Newmarket, we were left with just SONAR running at Doncaster. Sadly he failed to make any impression in the prize money, but he is sure to have needed the run. He will be much better next time after having some experience under his belt.

Today we have THATCHEREEN running at Newbury where she is hoping to go one better than her recent Newmarket run. She got into a spot of bother there when getting slightly bumped. Hopefully she will get a trouble free run here and be able to open her account.

Tomorrow we start the day at Ripon where we hope we have found a good race for SPIRITOFTHEUNION to make her mark. She has been in good form in her work and it would be great to see a decent effort from her. Later in the evening at Windsor ROLE PLAYER is looking to continue in his good vain of form. He is thriving physically and looks in good shape.

On Tuesday we start the afternoon of at Catterick where we are hoping recent Yarmouth runner up BERLAND can get his head in front. He appears to have come on for that run and we expect him to be competitive. We have also declared two runners at Ffos Las starting the afternoon of with ALMAX. Hopefully he will prove competitive in this his handicap debut. Later on the card BY JUPITER takes her chance at the same meeting and she appears in good form. It would be great to see her get her head in front as she has been working well.

The horses worked today on the peat moss.
