Sunday 19th November

November 19, 2017

On Thursday we headed to Chelmsford with SHERIFF.  He chased the leading pair and was asked for his effort over one furlong out. He was unable to quicken under pressure and weakened inside the final furlong. He is due to be gelded now which will certainly benefit him and with another winter under his belt hopefully he will be progressive in handicaps next season.

On Friday we headed to Lingfield with two good chances. We started the afternoon off with CHOICE ENCOUNTER who had been gelded since finishing in the frame in all four starts on turf earlier in the year. He struggled to go the early pace, but finished well and was gradually eating into the winner’s advantage late on. He may benefit from a bit further on this surface but it was a good effort on his return to the track. We rounded off the day with NURSE NIGHTINGALE who was always up with the pace and plugged on for pressure. She has now made the frame in seven of her nine starts, but looks to lack a turn of foot.

SACRED ACT ran another good race providing us with a third second of the week. He ran on strongly from the middle of the field but found that the winner had already gone beyond recall. He has now finished runner-up in all of his three visits at Lingfield, but he certainly deserves to land one of these.
