Well yesterday sadly was not going to be or day after all the rain that had arrived at Ascot poor BIG ORANGE was always going to struggle? He did his usual and tried to dominate the race early on and when he started to drop back with no chance James Doyle just left him alone to find his own way home. He is such an amazing horse and we are so lucky to have him, but after his brilliant win at Ascot the weather has played a big part in going against him for the rest of the season. I am sure he will go home now and hopefully have a lovely break before being prepared again for Dubai in March. Our only other runners of the day were at Catterick where we started the day with IMMORTAL ROMANCE. Held up off the pace in the first time visor he looked a possible threat when moving up to challenge coming into the last furlong. He hung badly away to his right and ended up nearer the stands’ rail. Later on the card RAY’S THE MONEY never got into the race and was always at the rear. He is a frustrating horse as we know he has ability and he is better than this effort would suggest.
We have no runners tomorrow then on Tuesday we head to Yarmouth with the two declared runners. We start the afternoon off with GIRLS TALK who is progressing. She will be a nice filly for next season and hopefully will do herself justice in nurseries once she has got a mark. In the second division of the race we run ESME KATE who looked so green on her first start at Newmarket and looked to get tired when hitting the rising ground. She seems to have come on for the run and hopefully will keep progressing. She is another who should shape up into a nice filly for next season.
