Wednesday 23rd August
August 23, 2017
On Saturday at the July Course before racing there was a Newmarket Hacks class which was open to all the trainers’ hacks. MILLER the bosses hack was certainly turned from a goose into a swan under the hard work of our farriers Rebecca Lowe and Dale Powell who did a fantastic job in getting him ready and was beautifully shown by Becky to finish third. We were all very proud of him and his rosette is proudly on display on the stable door.
Our only runner so far this week was on Tuesday when GLASSALT took her chance at Yarmouth. Off the track since the end of May, she had been stepped up in distance on this her handicap debut. She stayed on again late and she looks as though she would have no trouble over further. It was a promising effort from the filly and hopefully we will be able to find a similar contest for her shortly.

Tomorrow we head to York with the two declared runners. Unfortunately they have had a lot of rain which will not suit them, but if the forecast is right things will hopefully dry up a bit. We start the afternoon off with RONALD R who was disappointing in the listed race at Newmarket on his latest outing, where he was not suited by the run of the race. He was second at Royal Ascot the time before and if he recreates this run he should be very competitive. Later on the card CHEVAL BLANCHE takes her chance. She was keen at Newmarket on her last start and so hopefully she will settle much better here. She has been working nicely at home and we expect her to bounce back to form.
On Friday we head to Newmarket where GIRL’S TALK makes her racecourse debut. She has been working nicely at home and although we think she will need the run, we expect her to give a good account of herself.
