Sunday 26th March
March 26, 2017
On Monday we were delighted to get a win on the board with INSTANT KARMA at Kempton. He seemed to enjoy himself on a return to the flat and was given a lovely ride by Louis Steward. He tracked the leading pair and was pushed along over two furlongs out. He was ridden to lead inside final furlong and stayed on when driven to score his victory. He appears to have come out of the race well and we will come up with another plan for him.
On Thursday we headed to Chemlsford with TAPER TANTRUM. He looked to take a keen hold when held up in touch. He looked well held and one paced entering the final furlong when mounting his challenge. He will have needed the run and hopefully this will now put him spot on for a summer jumps campaign.
On Friday CHEVAL BLANCHE headed to Lingfield to run in the apprentice race. She looked to take a keen early on but soon got nice and settled. She chased the leading pair with two left to run and when asked for her effort she won nicely. She was given a lovely ride by Lulu Stanford and is entered again towards the end of the week at Southwell and Newcastle.
Yesterday we were delighted with the run from BIG ORANGE who gave a good performance of himself even when things had gone against him. He had ran a slight temperature the day before the race and with the terrible weather that they have had conditions then went against him. He set to make all and when asked for his effort he stayed on well but could not keep his head in front. He looked to be staying on again and the first four did come away from the field. He is such a brave horse and we cannot wait for him to come back on Monday. We had two other runners yesterday at Lingfield. We started the afternoon of with THE RAVEN MASTER who was making his re-appearance after a promising debut run. He tracked the leaders and when asked for his effort did not find as much as hoped. He looks as though he may appreciate further. We rounded off the day with DUCK A L’ORANGE who put in a better performance. He tracked the leaders and was ridden to lead three furlongs from home. He was headed just inside the final furlong and kept on, but was never going to catch the winner. It was a better effort from him and we will see how he is before making further plans.
On Tuesday we have declared ARMAGNAC at Wolverhampton. He has been working nicely at home and looks to have wintered well. Hopefully we have found the right race that he can be competitive in.
