Sunday 4th December
December 4, 2016
It was good to get back to the action this week with runners starting on Wednesday at Lingfield where we had declared the two. We started the afternoon with ELEMENTARY who we had expected to run well. He pressed for the lead early on and when asked for his effort, did not find what was expected and was always behind. He possibly could have paid the price for being too handy early on, but we definitely expected a better effort from him. Later on the card DUCK A L’ORANGE ran a better race, enjoying the run of the race early on before being cut down late on. He has been on the go all season and we will see how he is before making further plans.
On Thursday AID TO AFRICA headed to Chelmsford. Held up in midfield, he was asked for his effort over a furlong out. He did not appear to get the clearest of runs and kept on at the same pace inside final furlong to finish seventh.
On Friday we were delighted to get off the mark with GENERAL HAZARD. His owner, Mr Michaelson has been so patient with him and it was great to see him finally rewarded. He appeared to relish the step up from a mile, making a successful handicap debut with plenty to spare. He is open to further improvement and should hopefully be hard to beat if turned out again under a penalty at Lingfield next week.
We have possible runners coming up this week on Wednesday with as mentioned GENERAL HAZARD possibly turning out again, and CHELABELLA could also run at Lingfield and then at Kempton TOWERLANDS PARK could make his re-appearance along with an unraced two-year-old filly called GLASSALT.
BIG ORANGE has arrived in Hong Kong in preparation for his run next week. He appears to have taken his flight well and Gill our travelling head Girl who has done a fantastic job with him seems pleased with his well-being. Hong Kong looks fantastic and I think we all wish that that we could be there!
The horses worked on Wednesday on the Cambridge Road.
