On Monday we sent NOTALOT to Nottingham where we were looking for some improvement from his debut run. He chased the leaders and was driven over two furlongs out. He hung right and had no chance with the winner. It was a better effort from the horse and hopefully he will go in next time.
On Tuesday we had declared PURPLE MAGIC at Beverley. Stepped up in trip having finished third on her previous start, she was not suited the way the race panned out and finished fourth. She has taken the race well and we will look for another opportunity for her.
Last night we headed to CHELMSFORD with the three runners. We started the evening off with TAPER TANTRUM who had been applied with the first time visor. He set a reasonable gallop out in front and he and the eventual winner beat the rest of the field comfortably. He has run several good races in defeat since he last won back in August 2014 and really does deserve a change of fortune. Later on card GRACELAND failed to impress in her race. Slowly into her stride, she raced keenly and recovered to go second after a furlong. She led for nine furlongs and weakened with two left to run. She paid the price for not settling and hopefully we can get back on track next time. We rounded the evening off with SCIARRA. Held up towards the rear, she was keeping on at the finish from off the pace and it looked as though a stronger all-round gallop would have helped. She possibly might be better trying seven furlongs again.
On Thursday we start our Royal Ascot off with TAUREAN STAR taking his chance in the Britannia. He is a course and distance winner and as long as he does not find the ground too soft he should hopefully give a good account of himself. In the evening we head to Lingfield with PURPLE RAVEN. She was disappointing at Doncaster last time and so it would be great to see her bounce back to form.
On Friday we head to ROYAL ASCOT with the two runners. CHEVAL BLANCHE has done nothing but please since her win at Redcar and she looks to have come on for that run. It’s a big step up in class and we would be thrilled to see her in the mix. Later on the card FABRICATE squeezed into his race at the Royal meeting. He is a good horse who certainly has ability and it would be great to see him run well with his owner in attendance.
Yesterday the horses worked across the flat
Hart Stopper (Blue Hat – Louis Steward) and Best Blue
Rays the Money (Black Hat – William Carson) and Maori Bob
Instant Karma leading Fabricate
Strathearn and Stetchworth Park (Orange Jacket)
