Sunday 15th May
May 15, 2016
On Thursday we started the afternoon at Salisbury with PURPLE MAGIC. She gave a good account on this her seasonal debut. She galloped on to finish nicely, without coming under maximum pressure and should strip fitter for her next outing. Later on the card at Newmarket GOODWOOD MIRAGE proved a bit disappointing. He failed to build on a fairly encouraging first run for us, dropping away tamely.
On Friday we headed to Newbury with GENERAL HAZARD. He raced in a midfield position and was asked for his effort two out. He dropped away and on this evidence you would think he probably wants a bit further. Later on in the afternoon STETCHWORTH PARK was taking his chance at York. He had been stepped up in trip for this his handicap debut and certainly had his chance. He looks as though he will be suited by a truer test at this trip and maybe some sheepskin cheek pieces will help. We rounded off the day with a good run from FABRICATE at Hamilton. He made a bold bid before being overhauled in the closing stages. He looked a bit green early on, but got stronger as the race developed and pulled clear of the third. He is sure to stay further than this and also the ground might have just gone against him.
On Saturday our only runner was BATTS ROCK at Newmarket. Held up, he made some good headway to join the leaders over two furlongs out. He was ridden and was staying on at the same pace when he hung right inside final furlong.
On Monday we head to Leicester with the two runners. We start the evening off with SHOW LEGEND who was found to be not quite right on his last start. He worked nicely yesterday and seems to be back in good health. Later on the card DUCK A L’ORANGE is looking to put a tame effort at Windsor behind him, where the ground probably did go against him. He works so well at home and so we know he has ability. It would be great to see him put in a good performance here.
On Tuesday we head to Nottingham with THE MAJOR who is looking to go one better than his recent Beverley run. He certainly deserves to get a win by his name after some good consistent efforts.
Yesterday the horses worked on the Peat Moss.
