We were delighted with BIG ORANGE’S run in the Melbourne Cup. He was given a lovely ride to get his position and just could not sustain his effort. He has taken the race well and is due to return back to the yard tomorrow evening. Gill and Robert did a fantastic job getting him ready for the race and he looked a real picture. He will have a well-deserved break now and is going to be an exciting prospect for next season.

On Friday we reached the 38 winner mark for the year when PURPLE MAGIC got off the mark at Chelmsford. She looked green early on, but she got a nice run through on the inside turning in to the home straight. She did just enough and is bred to come into her own over middle distances next year.

On Saturday sadly MODEST failed to impress and she could be showing signs of a long season. In touch on the outer, she was ridden along well over two furlongs out and soon weakened.

On Monday BELLA BLUR took her chance at Kempton. Towards the rear early on she was urged along over three furlongs out and could make no great progress.

We have two runners tomorrow starting the afternoon with DAVEY BOY at Southwell. He did not show as much as we had hoped on his first start and hopefully he will show some improvement for that run here. Later at Chelmsford GIANT SHADOW make his reappearance after some time of the track. He certainly has ability we just have to channel him into using it. Hopefully the application of the first time visor will help.

Today we had a few working on the Cambridge Road.
