Wednesday 14th October
October 14, 2015
Last Wednesday we started the afternoon off at Nottingham with MACHINE LEARNER. He tracked the leaders and was ridden to lead well over one furlong out. He was driven and headed entering the final furlong and kept on well under pressure towards the end. He possibly would have appreciated a sounder surface, but looks a nice prospect for next season with another winter under his belt. Later on the card MY STRATEGY raced in touch and was ridden to take a slight lead just over one furlong out. He was headed entering the final furlong and kept on same pace to finish in the money again. It was another consistent effort from the horse who always gives his all. In the evening we headed to Kempton with ON THE HUH. He travelled well back in the pack and came to have his chance, but could not pick up sufficiently on this slowish surface. He takes his chance there again this evening and we know that he will win a race; it is just catching him on the right day.
On Thursday it was great to get off the mark with BAREFOOT DANCER after some consistent efforts. He needed to be encouraged along from time to time, but essentially he was always in the best position leading them in single file. He found enough for pressure in the straight to hold on and set himself up for what we hope will be a decent sale later in the month.
On Saturday our only runner was TOUCHLINE at Newmarket. She took a keen hold when chasing the leaders and found herself slightly short of room two furlongs out. She was ridden and unable to quicken weakening inside the final furlong. She failed to settle and lost her race pretty early on.
On Monday we started the afternoon off at Salisbury with BLUE MOON RISING. She was given a lot to do and was doing her best work late on, coming from further back than ideal. She is a nice filly who appears to keep improving with her runs. We rounded the day off with BERLAND at Windsor. He got a positive ride and held every chance. He went down fighting on ground easier than he cares for and remains capable of better.
Yesterday we were delighted with the effort from KAISAN on this his racecourse debut. Held up towards the rear, he was ridden over two furlongs out. He ran on inside the final furlong, but could never trouble the leaders. Today we started the afternoon at Nottingham with STETCHWORTH PARK. He dwelt at the start and never got into the race. He looked very green and we expect him to come on significantly for the run. We rounded off the afternoon with PURPLE RAVEN. She tracked the leaders on the outer and was asked for her effort over two furlongs out. She was ridden along well over one furlong out and soon looked one paced. Our only runner this evening is ON THE HUH and he is certainly capable of winning in this grade. Tomorrow our only runner is DUCK A L’ORANGE who we feel should be competitive at Brighton. He looks a progressive type who should hopefully be in the mix. On Friday we have declared recent Catterick winner MODEST who we are hoping can get her head in front again. She appears in great form and hopefully can get another win in the bag. We round off the day with SCHOOL FETE who appears to have come on for his run last time. He is a big horse who is progressing all the time and will make up to a nice horse next year with another winter under his belt. Today the horses worked on the Back of the flat |
