On Monday we headed to Pontefract where ROCK OF MAX took his chance. He was never far away from the leaders and kept on at the one pace when coming under pressure. He seemed to stay the longer trip well and hopefully we will find a race he can be competitive in shortly. At Windsor ACADEMY HOUSE tracked the leading trio and was shaken up to chase leading pair just over two furlongs out. He was soon ridden and could make no impression on the leaders and again finished fourth. He does not look to have progressed as we had hoped he might after his win and now heads to the Horses in Training Sales.
On Tuesday we headed to Catterick where we have declared the two runners. We started the afternoon with MODEST who was slightly unlucky at Chelmsford on her last start. She was travelling nicely for the first stage of the race and looked to pick up strongly to win with a bit in hand. She seems to keep improving and someone may just pick up a bargain at the Horses in Training Sales. Later on the card it was so pleasing to get another win on the board with STRAIT OF MAGELLAN after finishing second on six of his starts. It was also great to get a double on the day for both trainer and jockey. He looked to win with a bit in hand and continues to progress. He is entered again on Tuesday at Leicester and could have another real chance if he can recreate this run. At Leicester after the withdrawal of BONHOMIE it left us with MALVIA being our only runner. He was slightly hampered at the start and was then held up. He was ridden over two furlongs out and soon weakened. He did not look at home on the soft ground and maybe a return to good ground will be on the cards for him.
Today we start the afternoon of at Nottingham where MACHINE LEARNER takes his chance. He should find the trip in his favour and we do not think that the ground will inconvenience him. Later on the card MY STRATEGY takes his chance and we are hoping that with the help of good seven pound claimer Josh Doyle hopefully will give him chance. We round the day off at Kempton with ON THE HUH who is certainly capable of winning races if he wants to. Hopefully he will be in the mood this evening.
