On Tuesday it was a quick re-appearance for Kempton winner SHERIFF. Having disputed the lead on the bend, he dropped away quickly from the turn in. Having spoken to Luke Morris he felt that the horse was unsuited by the Fibresand surface. He appears to have come out of the race well and we will look for some other options for him.
On Thursday we had declared JOE’S SPIRT at Newcastle. It came on the back of his second at Lingfield five days earlier. He possibly was not suited by the drop in trip and maybe seemed to lack the same spark brought out quickly. He has come out of the race well and we will try and find a similar contest for him.
On Friday FREEBE ROCK’S put in another decent effort just finding one too good for him. Wearing a visor for the first time, he was away well and possibly was a bit too keen early on. In a race in which few got involved, he was always well positioned, but could not catch the eventual winner, but finished nicely clear of the rest of the field. He is sure to go up in the handicap and hopefully we will be able to find a similar contest where he can go one better.
Yesterday SACRED ACT gave another good account of himself in race which was not run to suit him. Settled towards the rear, he travelled nicely and when asked for his effort he was picking up late on. The race turned into a sprint and would not have suited him.
We have just the one entry so far this week and that is CHOICE ENCOUNTER who could possibly head to Newcastle on Friday. He appears to have taken his win at Kempton well and we will have a look at the race before deciding if he takes his chance as he does have other options coming up later in the month.
