On Monday we headed to Leicester and it was great to get another win on the board thanks to FIRE BRIGADE. He waited patiently for a gap to present itself, before impressing with the way he quickened up. Still on the upgrade, he looks the type to do well next year and with a stronger gallop sure to suit him, the Lincoln could be the ideal target for him next season. He has been such a star this season and now head to the paddock for a well-deserved rest.
On Tuesday we headed to Catterick with NURSE NIGHTINGALE. She was soon ridden to lead and set a fair pace in the conditions. Sadly she could not sustain her effort and finished fourth. In the evening we headed to Wolverhampton where SHIMMERING LIGHT took her chance. She was not disgraced on this her all-weather debut, but hung badly in the final stages of the race. She looks as though she will benefit from a drop back in trip.
On Wednesday we started the afternoon off with ARTARMON at Nottingham. He stayed on really well having been held up in last. It was a pretty eye-catching effort and he is always going to be one to follow next season. Later on the card YAMARHABA MALAYEEN who has been off the card since June and had been stepped up in trip. Given that this turned into a bit of a test of speed, it could be said that he was favoured by the way the race was run and it looked to be a good effort having been off the track for such a long time.
On Thursday we headed to Lingfield starting the afternoon with SHERIFF. He took a while to get into his stride after leaving the gate and was then quite badly hampered after a furlong. He was staying on nicely late on and showed some promise. We rounded off the day with SACRED ACT who was having his second start for the yard. He emerged from the middle of the field to hold every chance and was just out-battled. He is lightly raced and can surely go one better in a similar contest.
On Friday our only runner was REVIVED. Restless in stalls, she was steadied at the start and took keen hold when held up in touch. When asked for effort two furlongs out, she weakened inside the final furlong. She did not wear her hood this time and in hindsight that was a mistake.
On Tuesday we have declared CHOICE ENCOUNTER at Wolverhampton. He worked well on Saturday and should hopefully give a good account of himself after a while off the track.
Today the horses worked on the Cambridge Road
