Wednesday 12th July

July 12, 2017

On Monday we headed to Windsor with BECUNA. She appeared to take a keen hold held up towards the rear. Pushed along over two furlongs out, she kept on steadily to take fourth in the final furlong.

Today we were delighted with the effort shown by THREE DUCHESSES at Yarmouth. She settled much better in this bigger field on a more forgiving surface. She had run well under similar conditions on her penultimate start, but still proved something of a revelation in this contest. Once switched right about two furlongs out, she came clear and her win never looked in any doubt. She will be penalised for this although it was possibly not the toughest of races and it might be an idea to run her back again quickly before she is reassessed. Later on the card HANNINGFIELD was held up towards the rear and when asked for his effort he was never dangerous. He is eligible for a handicap mark and hopefully we will find a race he can be competitive in.

Tomorrow we start the day off at Newmarket with RONALD R who ran a really good race at Royal Ascot. He looks a progressive type and hopefully will give a good account of himself. Later in the evening we head to Epsom where DREAM MACHINE takes his chance. Conditions should be in his favour and as long as he handles the track he should run well.

On Friday we start the afternoon off at Ascot where JOE’S SPIRIT takes his chance. He should appreciate the step back up to six furlongs and hopefully can make up for his below par performance last time. Later on the card at Newmarket ARABIAN JAZZ takes her chance. She is running with bottom weight with Tristan Price’s claim and hopefully she will give a good account of herself on her handicap debut. Later on the card TAUREAN DANCER makes his racecourse debut. He is such a good looking horse that has shown promise at home and although he will probably need the run we are hopeful he has a future.
