On Monday we were pleased with the effort shown by JOE’S SPIRIT making his racecourse debut at Bath. He tracked the leaders and made a strong challenge entering the final furlong. He could not get to the winner, but kept on close home. He looks as though he is going to appreciate six furlongs and hopefully he will not remain a maiden for too long.
On Tuesday we had declared the seven runners at the various meetings. We started the afternoon off at Nottingham where MAIN DESIRE was making her racecourse debut. She raced towards the stands side and tracked the leaders. She made smooth headway, when asked for effort and was pushed out to the line winning in good fashion. She appears to have come out of the race well and looks as though she will be a progressive type. Later on the card ARMAGNAC failed to get in the mix in his contest at the track. He raced in a prominent position and was asked for his effort well over a furlong from home. Louis felt that the ground was a tad too fast for him and thinks he would be better stepping up in trip. At Yarmouth we started the afternoon with CHOICE ENCOUNTER. He looked to have come on in his work for his fourth place at Nottingham on racecourse debut. He travelled nicely throughout the race and when asked for his effort he looked slightly outpaced with the winner, but kept on gamely to finish second. He looks as though he came up against a real hotpot and hopefully he will be able to go one better next time. Later on the card we were delighted with the effort shown by TAUREAN STAR who scored our second victory of the day. He was kept towards the rear of the field and when asked for his effort, he battled away to score his third career success. He has been off the track since August and so we thought he may just need the run but, it was especially nice to see him bounce back. Later on the card RAY’S THE MONEY failed to get competitive in his race at the track. He was given every chance, but could not sustain a challenge. It is possible that he found the ground a little too lively.
At Chelmsford ARABIAN JAZZ was making her racecourse debut and she was awkward on leaving the stalls and unseated her jockey Danny Brock. Thankfully both horse and jockey are okay and she could run again next week at Leicester. We rounded off the day with THREE DUCHESSES at Wolverhampton. She never really got into the race and I am sure she will be seen to better effect next time.
Today we headed to Yarmouth with AIR MINISTRY. He appeared to run in snatches staying on again at the end. He looks as though he will stay further and hopefully is capable of winning a staying handicap.
Tomorrow we head to Redcar with WONDER OF DUBAI. He looks to have improved from his run at Lingfield and hopefully he will manage to get his head in front.
On Friday we head to Lingfield where THE RAVEN MASTER takes his chance. Making his handicap debut, we think he will appreciate the step up in trip and we expect him to give a good account of himself.
Today the horses worked on the watered gallop.
