Wednesday 31st May

May 31, 2017

On Tuesday we were delighted to get off the mark with JOE’S SPIRIT who had ran so pleasingly on his debut at Bath.  He did really well from his draw and battled on when strongly challenged in the straight. He is a nice horse who will hopefully keep progressing. Later on the card TAPER TANTRUM showed an improved effort. He was taking a step up in trip on the flat, but is a two-time winner over hurdles. He was too keen in the early stages and looked slightly one-paced in the closing stages of the race and was not match for the winner.

We have had a couple of blank days and return to the action tomorrow starting the afternoon at Lingfield with HIGHLIGHT REEL who will be making his racecourse debut. He has shown promise at home and we expect a nice introductory run from him. In the evening we head to Chelmsford with HANNINGFIELD who is making his racecourse debut. He has taken a long time to come to hand and his owners have been so patient. He will probably need the run but it is great to finally get him on the track.

On Friday we start the afternoon off at Bath where AIR MINISTRY takes his chance. He should appreciate the step up in trip and hopefully we have found a race that he can be competitive in. At Doncaster we start the evening off with JE SUIS CHARLIE. He failed to get competitive in his race at Newmarket on his seasonal debut. He looks to have come on for that and worked nicely this morning on the peat moss. Later on the card QUINQUEREME makes a return to the track after her recent run at Newmarket. She looks in good shape and will hopefully give a good account of herself. Also in the race is SEASIDE DREAMER who like Hanningfield seems to have taken forever to get to the track. He still looks quite green at home and will probably need the run. He is sure to keep progressing as the season unfolds.
