On Thursday we started the afternoon off at Salisbury with DUKE’S GIRL. She was making her handicap debut and was in there battling until dropping away inside the last furlong. Later in the afternoon GRACELAND was looking to make it two wins from two runs at York. She again put up a very consistent performance and made up her ground very smoothly, but was just possibly just outstayed. In the evening at Newmarket QUINQUEREME was making her racecourse debut. She travelled well for the early part of the race and just faded when asked for her effort. She possibly may have just needed the run and hopefully will come on for it. We rounded off the evening with FIRE BRIGADE who ran a cracking race to get his head in front. He had gone close at Yarmouth 23 days previously and stepped up to a mile, he travelled with much more zest and saw this out well. He quickened nicely on the surface and the rain had come at the right time for him. On Friday we started the afternoon off at Newmarket with WONDER OF DUBAI. A runner-up in two seven furlong maidens, he travelled well on his handicap debut and just could not lay down a challenge to the winner, who had already got away. He deserves to win his race and hopefully we can score with him next time At York we started the afternoon off with MAIN DESIRE who had been stepped up to listed class. On top at the business end she made it 2 from 2 and we were so thrilled with how she won on conditions that were not ideal for her. She is definitely better on faster ground and looks an exciting prospect. Roll on Royal Ascot. Later on the card things did not go right for COMPRISE and this run is probably best forgotten as we know he is better than this. He lost a shoe at the start and seemed quite upset in the starting stalls. When they opened he got left and his race was pretty much over by then. We rounded off the day at Newcastle with TAPER TANTRUM. He did not show a great deal and was found wanting again here. A return to the timber should suit him.
We have no runners tomorrow and then on Tuesday we start the day off with recent Leicester runner up ARABIAN JAZZ taking her chance at Brighton. Hopefully we have found the ideal race for her to break her maiden tag. At Nottingham we start the afternoon off with recent Windsor winner HART STOPPER. He appears in good form in his work and should we feel keep progressing. Later on the card THREE DUCHESSES takes her chance. She failed to get competitive on her last start when not really getting into the race. We expect a better effort from her here. We round off the day with ARMAGNAC who is yet to get off the mark this season, but he has been taking his racing well and appears in good form.
