On Thursday at Chelmsford, RAY’S THE MONEY failed in his bid to follow up on his win at Newcastle. Slow into his stride on leaving the stalls, he was always towards the rear. He was ridden and stayed on inside final furlong to finish fourth. He certainly would have finished closer had he been kept handier earlier on and we will look for another opportunity for him.
On Friday we headed to Newcastle with FABRICATE. He was always kept handy, tracking the leaders and when ridden inside the final furlong, he could find no extra. He seems to struggle to quicken on the all-weather surface, but it was good effort from him to finish fourth.
We have no runners over the weekend and then on Monday Merlin makes his seasonal debut at Redcar. He ran a nice race at Yarmouth on his last start as a two-year-old to finish second and he looks to have come on for that over the winter. He has been working well at home and we hope he will be competitive.
Today the horses worked on the Peat Moss.
