Sunday 2nd October
October 2, 2016
On Monday we were delighted with the effort shown by JIVE TALKING, who sadly just found one too good for her. She was always close to the pace and plugged on under pressure. She looks a tough filly, who will hopefully make her mark in handicaps.
On Thursday we had a busy day at the various meetings. We started the afternoon at Brighton with MISS FAY. She had confirmed her debut promise and looks capable of winning a fillies maiden or doing herself justice in nurseries over further. Later on the card BONHOMIE was kept handy for the early part of the race and when asked for effort she did not find as much as expected. She is due to go home now and at least she heads home a winner. At Newcastle CLEAR EVIDENCE travelled well in midfield, but became short of room when caught behind the weakening horses just as the favourite was being produced with his effort. He stayed on again when in the clear and was not done many favours when the winner hung into him inside the last furlong. He heads to the Horses in Training Sales and is certain to catch someone’s eye. Later on the card SCIARRA was being tried in sheepskin cheek pieces on her return to handicaps. Having been held up, she was only getting there all too late and had to settle for third. We rounded off the day at Chemlsford with FORECASTER. She was held up in touch in midfield and was another who suffered when not getting a clear run over two furlongs out. She stayed on to press the eventual winner well inside final furlong and was held towards the finish.
Tomorrow, GIANT REDWOOD heads to Pontefract in what we hope will prove a good opportunity for him. He has an entry in the Horses in Training Sales and it would be great to see him head into the sales on the back of a decent effort.
On Tuesday FABRICATE is looking to bounce back to form after a moderate effort at Doncaster on his last start. He looked to slightly run in snatches on this occasion and certainly did not finish as expected. He is another who holds a sales entry and a decent effort in a race that he ran well in last year will only enhance is value.
BIG ORANGE has now headed into quarantine in preparation for the Melbourne Cup. He did a nice piece of work on Thursday with FABRICATE and looks in fantastic form. He is due to head to Australia later in the month and hopefully his training schedule will continue to run smoothly after such a long flight.
