On Wednesday were delighted to get off the mark with JE SUIS CHARLIE at Beverley. He has been quite a quirky horse to deal with and Ben James our assistant trainer has done a wonderful job in keeping him sweet. He had come on since his Newbury debut last month and won under a confident ride. He has plenty of scope and should now make his mark in nurseries. At Yarmouth STICKS MCKENZIE looked very green and never got into the race. He will have needed the run and hopefully will show some improvement for it.
On Thursday we were delighted with the effort shown by MERLIN at Yarmouth. He had improved from his debut run and travelled strongly just running into a stronger stayer at the trip. It was a good effort and he is a horse that is sure to keep improving.
Today we have start the afternoon off at Newbury with GOODWOOD MIRAGE. He has been in great form since arriving and as long as he does not find the going too soft he will give a good account of himself. He worked nicely on Wednesday. At Catterick we start the afternoon off with NOTALOT. He has been in great form this season and hopefully can keep his consistent run going. Later on the card GIANT REDWOOD takes his chance and hopefully he should be more at home with the conditions.
On Monday we head to Kempton where FIRE BRIGADE takes his chance. He looks in good form and should hopefully give a good account of himself. Later on the card it is great to see the re-appearance of DAVEY BOY. He has yet to find his form so far this season, but of the evidence of last year maybe he is an autumn horse. Also in the race is AID TO AFRICA who likewise has taken a while to come together, but is showing encouraging signs.
Due to staff holiday no one will be updating the website next week.
