At Newbury on Tuesday we were delighted with the racecourse debut of JE SUIS CHARLIE. Slightly awkward at the start, he was soon back in touch and when asked for his effort he just looked to get tired entering the final furlong. He looks as though he will come on for the run and he will have learned a lot from the experience.
On Wednesday MISS FAY was making her racecourse debut at Lingfield. She was always in touch in a midfield position and when asked for her effort, she could find no extra inside the final furlong to finish third. She looks to have improved for the run and is sure to go close next time.
On Thursday we headed to Leicester with PARSNIP. She raced much better with the first time tongue tie and was always kept in a prominent position. Ridden along over two furlongs out, she stayed on to go second well inside the final furlong. She looks back in good form and is certainly capable of winning again.
On Friday we started the afternoon off at Newmarket with WINSTON C. He led at a steady pace until he was asked to quicken over two furlongs out. He was soon ridden and headed staying on at the same pace in the final furlong to finish third. Later on the card ARMAGNAC was slowly into his stride and was always in the rear. He did not appear to be at home on the firm ground and never got competitive. We rounded off the afternoon at Newmarket with a winner when PURPLE MAGIC obliged. She was kept handy and took up second position three furlongs out. She was ridden to lead over one furlong out and stayed on well to score a well-deserved victory. She could head for the Park Hill at Doncaster, but we will have to see how she comes out of the race before deciding on future plans. At Thirsk BONHOMIE was taking her chance in the apprentice race. She was always in touch and soon went to lead after two furlongs. She was soon ridden over two furlongs out and was driven keeping on at the same pace inside the final furlong. We rounded off the day with CLEAR EVIDENCE in the evening at Goodwood who ended up giving us a fantastic double on the day. He tracked the leaders and was pushed into lead with over one furlong left to run. He was ridden to maintain his effort and went on to score nicely. He is a progressive sort and seemed to appreciate the step up in trip.
Yesterday we headed to Lingfield where FORECASTER was taking her chance. She took a keen hold early on when held up in touch in the last pair. She was asked for her effort and made no impression when entering the final furlong. It is disappointing that she has failed to get her head in front so far after some promising efforts.
The yearling sales are upon us and we have purchased three nice horses this week. Check out our Horses for Sale age to view the good looking purchases.
Yesterday the horses worked on the Watered Gallop.
