On Thursday we headed to Beverley where THE MAJOR was taking his chance. He had been stepped up in trip for his seasonal and handicap debut. He had been gelded since his last start in early August and ran nicely, looking to get a bit tired late on when asked for his effort. He should come on for the run and will be competitive next time in the right race.
We had no runners on Friday and then headed to Doncaster with two declared runners on Saturday. We started the evening off with PURPLE RAVEN who ran disappointingly. She tracked the leaders and made some headway over four furlongs out. She was asked for her effort and had every chance when weakening quickly well over one furlong out and was then eased. It was not a good effort from the filly as she had been working well at home. Possibly the ground had dried up too much for her, as she is much better than this run would suggest. We also had declared SHOW LEGEND at Doncaster and he did not run well either. He was never really travelling and was soon beaten. We certainly expected better and we will see how they both are over the next couple of days before making further plans, but it is quite puzzling. Our only other runner was WISHPOINT at Leicester. Held up in the field he made some headway at the halfway stage. He was ridden over three furlongs out and weakened entering the final furlong. He is a nice horse who is still filling his frame and he looks as though he may appreciate further.
Today we head to Thirsk with the two runners. We start the afternoon off with STRATHEARN. He has been in good form at home and we expect him to run a nice race. Later on the card SCIARRA takes her chance. She looks to have come on for her run at Pontefract and we are expecting her to be competitive.
Tomorrow we head to Chelmsford with TAPER TANTRUM who is looking to get back on track. He possibly would have needed the run last time and so hopefully that will have put him spot on here. He has ability, but can be slightly qwerky. Later on the card AKSUM was unlucky on her last start getting into all sorts of trouble when she mounted her challenge. She should, we think appreciate the step up in trip and we expect her to run a good race. At Windsor we start the evening off with INSTANT KARMA who has been keeping busy over the hurdles during the winter. He is fit and well and should enjoy a return the flat. Later on the card DUCK A L’ORANGE make his seasonal debut. He looks to have done really well over the winter and has been working well.
On Tuesday we have declared BOCKING END at Nottingham. She was ridden in her work yesterday by Louis Steward who rides her here and she looks in good form working nicely with Purple Magic.
Yesterday the horses worked on the back of the flat gallop
Winston C (Orange Jacket) and Merlin
