Wednesday 6th April
April 6, 2016
On Tuesday SCIARRA ran a pleasing race on very testing ground at Pontefract. Hopefully given normal improvement, she should be very competitive in a similar race next time as she is sure to have needed the run.
On Wednesday we started the afternoon off at Nottingham with GIANT REDWOOD. He was settled towards the rear of the field and when asked for his effort did not find much on the heavy ground. We were short of options for him and I am sure he will be seen to better effect on a firmer surface. He has only run once before when he won at Navan on good ground. Later on the card we had declared PURPLE RAVEN. She was settled towards the rear and was switched to make her challenge. She stayed on at the same pace in the final furlong to take third. She looks as though she is going to appreciate further and will keep improving.
On Thursday we head to Chelmsford with the two runners. We start the evening off with GENERAL HAZARD who made a promising debut run at Kempton on his only start to date. He looks to have come on for the run and will hopefully get competitive here. Later on the card DUCHY has been declared to run and she has been putting in some nice efforts in her work. She is a nice filly who will hopefully be progressive this year.
