Sunday 25th October

October 25, 2015

On Wednesday we started the afternoon off at Newmarket with CARTER PACE. She was steadied at the start and looked to take a keen hold early on. She was pushed along two furlongs out and soon looked outpaced. She will have needed the run and hopefully she will show significant improvement next time. Later on the card STRATHEARN never really got going on the soft ground and finished down the field. He is due to be gelded this week and hopefully it will be the making of him.

On Friday we headed to Newbury where TOWERLANDS PARK looked slightly unlucky in his race. He has clearly come on for his debut run at Newmarket and was settled in the middle of the field. He did not get a clear run two furlongs out and stayed on well in the final furlong. Later on the card TAUREAN STAR who won his maiden at Ascot in similar conditions was held up out the back and never got into contention. He looks as though he could be a candidate for gelding over the winter which could be the making of him.

Yesterday our only runner was MERRIMENT at Newbury. She was slowly into her stride and looked very green. She never really got going and is sure to have needed the racecourse experience. She is a big filly, who has the scope to improve with another winter under her belt.
Tomorrow we have declared FABRICATE at Leicester. He has been in great form after his break and looks to be thriving since his return to full work. He could possibly need the run, but we know he is an exciting prospect. At Redcar ROCK OF MAX is looking to get a win by his name before he heads to the Doncaster Sales. He has been slightly harshly treated on his form, but hopefully with the step up in trip we have found a race he can be competitive in.

On Tuesday we start the day off at Lingfield with BIG SKY. She has the ability to run a good race and a decent effort will certainly enhance her prospects at the December Sales. Later on the card PENANG PAPARAJAH is hoping to bow out on a win before he takes his place at the Doncaster Sales in ten days’ time.

BIG ORANGE is continuing to please in Australia in preparation for the Melbourne Cup. Gill and Robert who have gone with him have been delighted with his progress to date and the boss heads out tomorrow to oversee the final preparation. Things are being geared up for a week Tuesday and we are hoping for him to give a fantastic account of himself.

We have our first yearlings ridden now and although we seem to say it every year, we really do look to have a good looking bunch this year. We have three currently for sale on our “Horses for Sale Page” so check it out and maybe invest in an early Christmas present.
