Sunday 23rd August
August 23, 2015
On Thursday we headed to Chepstow with three runners. We started the afternoon off with GIANT SHADOW. He jumped out and chased the leaders. He was ridden over two furlongs out and soon looked the one pace. Hopefully he will be able to do himself justice in nurseries now he is eligible for a mark. Later on the card TARANDO again failed to find her form. She raced prominently and was ridden over two furlongs out. She was held entering the final furlong and soon faded. We rounded off the afternoon with BIPARTISAN. Held up towards the rear she was ridden and made some headway over two furlongs out. She was switched left and challenged inside the final furlong. She looks to have done well for the break and seemed to settle much better for the hood this time. She is capable of winning races and hopefully will go in next time.
On Friday we started the afternoon off with BIG ORANGE at York. He set to make all again and quickened the pace over six furlongs out. He was headed with three furlongs left to run and faded when headed. He has already proved disappointing at the track and he did go into the race on the back of two hard runs. He lost a shoe during the race and will now be freshened up for possibly his trip to the Melbourne Cup. In the evening we headed to Wolverhampton with NIBLAWI. He had the first-time cheek pieces on in place of the visor, but could still produce no more than the one pace late on once again. He is capable of winning races and we just have to find the right one for him. Later on the card ROCK OF MAX was making his handicap debut. Held up in touch he was pushed along over four furlongs out. He was soon ridden and could make no impression. He has been given no chance by the handicapper and it will be tough to get a bracket with him on his current mark.
On Saturday we started the afternoon off at York with GRACELAND. She was on a career-high mark and ran well in this competitive handicap. She appeared to see out the longer trip and hopefully we can find another race that she can be competitive in. At Chester we headed into the meeting with BANZARI. She had been off the track for a while and had been stepped up in trip. She dropped out having sat prominently and weakened well inside the final furlong. At Chelmsford we headed with the three runners. We started the evening with MODEST who tracked the leaders. She was asked for her effort over one furlong out and was ridden to lead. She was hard driven inside the final furlong and could find no extra and had to settle for second. She did not appear to mind the all-weather and we will look for another opportunity for her. Later on the card JARGON proved disappointing. He chased the leaders until losing his place entering final two furlongs. He was always behind and was eased entering the final furlong. He appears to be struggling to find his form this season after a decent two-year-old campaign. We rounded off the evening with BORN TO REIGN who headed into the race as a course winner. He came under a drive three furlongs out and was quickly beaten in the middle of the straight.
On Monday we head to Kempton with BAREFOOT DANCER. He has already run well at the track and so we are hoping for a decent effort from him. Later we head to Leicester with GOLDEN HELLO. He has failed to find his form so far this season but has been working well and with the application of the sheepskin cheek pieces hopefully this will bring about the necessary effort for him to be competitive.
