On Wednesday we started the afternoon at Lingfield with BIG SKY. She raced with the leaders and was unable to quicken over a furlong from home. She was short for room in the closing stage and soon weakened. She is eligible for a mark now and hopefully will do herself justice in nurseries. In the second division of the race we had ROSECOMB taking her chance. Slowly away she would have finished closer with a better run and like BIG SKY will hopefully be competitive in nurseries now she has run three times. Later on the card STRAIT OF MAGELLAN was unlucky not to hold on in his race. He was hard pressed inside the final furlong and kept on well under pressure just getting headed towards the finish. He is in again next week and it may be worth just putting the visor back on him. At Catterick MOTION PICTURE failed to deliver after some promising efforts. Stepped up in trip on this her handicap debut, she was travelling the best turning for home, but found little when coming off the bridle. It looked as though she may not have stayed. At Sandown THE MAJOR led early on in his race on leaving the gate. He was pressed two furlongs from home and was soon headed. He had no chance with winner and lost two places near the finish. It looked quite a good little maiden and hopefully we will be able to find a winnable contest for him next time.
It was great on Thursday to see GEORGE CINQ get his head in front. He is a consistent old boy and always gives his best so it was nice to see him open his account for the season. He was given a well-judged ride by Jamie who got him going at the right time. He looks capable of winning again and hopefully his rating will not be affected too much for this win. At Epsom MY STRATEGY failed to act on the quickest ground that he has encountered so far. He chased the leaders until three furlongs out and was soon under pressure. He kept on again inside the final furlong at the same pace to finish third.
On Friday we started the day at Nottingham with SHOW LEGEND. He went into the race on the back of a second at Newmarket. He could not find a change of pace when asked for his effort and may just need another furlong or maybe a bit more cut in the ground. Later in the afternoon at Newbury SAMPERA looked to race to keenly early on given a more prominent ride this time. She competed for the lead rather to early and came off worst. She is better when she can get some cover and feel this effort is best forgotten. In the evening at Newmarket THATCHEREEN failed to get competitive in her race at Newmarket after a promising debut run at Wolverhampton last time. She did not really appear to be travelling as well as expected and when asked for her effort did not really find anything. We rounded off the evening with ONE MAN ARMY. He was held up in touch in the last pair and was ridden for his effort over furlongs out. He did not find much when asked to quicken and soon dropped away..
This morning the horses worked on the Cambridge Road all weather.
