On Monday we started the afternoon off at Chepstow with THUNDER IN MYHEART. Held up in last, she was ridden over three furlongs out. She made some headway approaching final furlong, but never enough to trouble the leaders. At Wolverhampton MOTION PICTURE was dropping back slightly in trip and had been switched to Tapeta. She attempted to challenge the front-running winner in the home straight, but could not quite get on terms. In the evening GIANT SHADOW took his chance at Windsor. He behaved badly in the preliminaries and got himself quite upset. He went left at the start and was always struggling in the rear.
On Tuesday we were delighted to get a win on the board with ACADEMY HOUSE. He was returning from a seven week break since a promising debut third in a race where the form has worked out well on similar ground at Newmarket in May. He broke alertly before finding cover and was briefly headed inside the furlong marker. He battled back and scored his first victory.
Today we have seen a decent effort from TOUCHLINE at Carlisle who possibly ran a bit flat after her Ascot run a week ago. She did not appear to travel as well as she did there and was given every chance when asked for her effort. She is possibly a bit flat and it could be that this race has come a bit too soon for her.
Tomorrow we start the afternoon off at Newmarket with SHOW LEGEND and MALVIA. SHOW LEGEND looks to have improved for his racecourse debut and hopefully we will see this improvement here. MALVIA has been kept off the track due to some niggley little problems and so it will be great to get a run under his belt. At Nottingham we are hopeful for a good run from STONE ROSES. She has been in good form and seems to have appreciated the step up in trip. Hopefully she should give a good account of herself.
The horses worked this morning on the watered gallop today and we had Olympic gold medallist Victoria Pendleton riding out for us as she prepares to ride at next year’s Cheltenham Festival. She looked good in the saddle and her hard work is obviously paying off.
