We were delighted with the effort shown by SHOW LEGEND who showed that he had certainly improved for his racecourse debut. He was slowly into his stride and raced in a midfield position. He kept on well without being able to match the winner and finished second. He looks as though he will get further and should be breaking his maiden tag shortly. Later on MALVIA gave a solid effort and at one stage looked as though he would challenge for the places. He looked to get tired approaching the rising ground and possibly blew up. He is a talented horse and if we can get a clear run with him, he is sure to be in the winner’s enclosure shortly. We have always liked him and he has shown plenty of promise in his work. At Nottingham STONE ROSES gave another consistent effort of herself. She ran quite keen early on and Louis did a great job to get her to settle. She chased the winner and was given every chance, but could make no impression in the final furlong.
Today we started the afternoon off at Newmarket with STRATHEARN making his racecourse debut. He raced in touch and was asked for his effort two furlongs out. He was not given a hard time when he got tired and weakened and should do better in due course. Later on the card GRACELAND was steadied at the start. She was held up in last pair when ridden and made some headway over two furlongs out. She was driven to chase the leaders and kept on at the same pace inside final furlong. She possibly could have done with a bit more ease in the ground, but it was another solid effort from her. Tonight NIBLAWI takes his chance at Lingfield. He should appreciate the return back to the all weather surface and with the first time visor it would be great to see him finally get his head in front after finishing runner up on his last two starts.
On Monday we head to Pontefract with AUSSIE BERRY. He has been improving in his work and we expect him to give a good account of himself on this his handicap debut.
