On Wednesday after an encouraging run in the afternoon from NEYMAR we were left with just the two runners at Kempton in the evening. We started the meeting off with JAYEFF HERRING who was unable to lead from his outside draw and could find no cover. He lost his place with two furlong to go and appeared to get tired in the final furlong. He has had to quick runs now and we will see how he is before making further plans. Later on the card ON THE HUH again proved disappointing. He raced in touch in a midfield position. He was ridden when beaten and soon weakened going behind in the final furlong. He is certainly not transferring on the track what he is producing at home and the application of some headgear could be on the cards.
On Thursday ROCK OF MAX was disappointing. He was sloppy on leaving the stalls and never got into the race. We will draw a line through this as he is better than this run would suggest and see how is before making further plans.
Yesterday we treated to a promising debut run from FARBRICATE at Newbury who would certainly have found the ground a bit faster than he would have liked. He picked off some tiring rivals late on, but it was still a promising effort. He looked green during the early part of the race and should improve for the run. He may possibly just want further. In the evening at Nottingham ORANGE BLOOM gave a pleasing debut run. She tracked the leaders and was ridden with two furlongs left to go. She looked green and the racecourse experience will certainly help her next time.
Tomorrow we have declared STORYTALE at Pontefract. He was keen on his last start and so hopefully he will settle much better here and give a good account of himself.
On Tuesday we have declared GRACELAND at Wolverhampton. She has three other runners to contend with and it would be great for her to get her head in front. She looks to have wintered well and should hopefully prove progressive this year.
On Friday the two-year-olds worked on the Summer Gallop. Click on the links to watch the work.
