On Monday we were delighted with the performance shown by JARGON at Lingfield. He did not travel quite as strongly as the runner-up in the early part of the race, but as that rival began to falter in the final furlong, his stamina kicked in and he ended up winning with a bit more authority than the winning margin would suggest. It was great to get another win out of him and he looks to be the type that will keep improving. Later on the card BOURBON PRINCE did not run as well as hoped with the first time visor. He was held up in touch and appeared short of room over two furlongs out. He was ridden and made no progress, weakening in the final furlong.
On Tuesday WIGMORE HALL did not relish conditions at Goodwood. He was steadied at the start when held up in the last pair. He was asked for his effort entering the final two furlongs and plugged on, but never threatened the leaders. He looks as though he needs a step up in trip on a softer surface.
Today we started the afternoon at Goodwood with TOUCHLINE. She looked incredibly green early on and was staying on much better towards the end of the race. She is sure to come on from the run and we know she is a nice filly. Later on the card SALTWATER CREEK did not appear to handle the firm ground. She never looked happy and was never really travelling.
Tomorrow we start the afternoon off at Nottingham where BORN TO REIGN takes his chance. He needs another run to get a handicap mark and hopefully he will make his mark in his grade. Later on the card ROCK OF LEON tackles two miles for the first time. If he settles with the first time sheepskin cheek pieces he should have a great chance. At Goodwood we start the afternoon off with recent Newmarket runner up THUNDER IN MYHEART taking her chance. She has certainly come on for that run and although it will be a tough maiden she deserves to take her chance. Later on the card GEORGE CINQ heads for another apprentice race. Sadly Louis is banned and so cannot ride him, but he has a good jockey in Cam Hardie and it would be great if he was victorious again in this sort of company. Our only other runner is at Ffos Las where WEDDING WISH has made the long journey to Wales. She has been in good form and looks fantastic in her coat. She has really come to herself of late and we expect her to be competitive.
The horses worked today on the peat moss.
