On Thursday we were left with only the one contender after ALMAX was declared a non runner due to the drying ground. That left us with just HOT MUSTARD to take his chance. He was trying this trip for the first time and appeared to take a while to hit top gear, but was keeping on in the latter stages. He looks as though on this evidence he might get a bit further.
On Friday WHITE VIN JAN started the afternoon off for us at Lingfield. She chased the leaders and when asked for her effort she stayed on at the one pace to finish fourth. Later on the card INVOKE was unlucky to just miss out by a whisker. She had plenty of ground to make up on the leader turning for home and was given a strong ride towards the finish. She just failed to get up with the line coming too soon after she had mounted her challenge. At Newmarket THATCHEREEN gave another solid display without actually getting her head in front. Held up towards the rear, she made good headway over two furlongs out. She was ridden along when hampered well over a furlong from home and stayed on to go second near the finish. She certainly deserves a change of fortune and a win surely is on the horizon for her. Later on the card HALA HALA was seen to better effect and ran her best race of the season so far. She appears to be coming back to form and hopefully we can find another opportunity for her shortly.
We have no runners today and then it is a busy day at Ascot tomorrow where we start the afternoon off with MANTOU. He has been progressing well since his debut run and hopefully there is more to come. He appears in good form and should hopefully give a good account of himself. Later on the card MISSISSIPPI QUEEN finally hits the track to make her seasonal debut. She has taken a lot of time to come to herself and although quite quirky it would be great to see her give a decent effort here as her owners have been so patient with her. We round the afternoon off with PIAZON. It looks a tough contest with him facing Peterkin again, but he is a decent horse on his day and he heads into the race in good form.
On Monday we have declared JARGON who won nicely at Brighton on his last start. He has been in great form since his last run and has been working nicely. Later on the card BOURBON PRINCE takes his chance. We have put a visor on him for the first time and hopefully this will help keep his mind on the task in hand.
On Tuesday WIGMORE HALL heads to Goodwood where hopefully he can bounce back to form. He looked in good shape this morning and worked nicely on the peat moss.
Today the horses worked on the peat moss
