On Wednesday we started the afternoon off at Nottingham where HALA HALA gave a better effort of herself. She has never run on soft ground before and did herself few favours by failing to settle. There were certainly positives to be taken from the performance and hopefully she is starting to come to herself a bit. In the evening at Ripon, SPIRITOFTHEUNION was another who looked to be finding her form. She tracked the winner and challenged three furlongs out. She stayed on at the same pace inside the final furlong and hopefully a win is now on the cards for her.
On Thursday ROCK OF LEON was taking his chance at Lingfield. He was held up in last trio and was shaken up over three furlongs out. He made some progress from the two marker, but never reached the leaders. He is entered again this week at Yarmouth over a much longer trip.
On Friday we started the afternoon off at Goodwood with HYPERLINK. He chased the leaders until weakening well over a furlong out. He certainly looks as though he needs further and hopefully this will have put him spot on now. At Bath INVOKE was taking her chance and she did not run as well as expected. When asked for her effort, she found very little for pressure coming down the centre of the track. It is a shame as she appears to have lost her way slightly, but I am sure she will come good.
We had only the two declared runners yesterday starting the afternoon off at Epsom with GALIZZI in the handicap. Dropped back in trip he appeared a bit keen with the first time visor. He did not pick up well enough to take the gaps in the straight and a step back up in trip could be on the cards for him. At Musselburgh FINN CLASS continued with his consistent efforts to finish fourth. He was sat off the pace and looked to be the only runner to make significant ground from the rear. Maybe if he had been kept handier, it would have been a different story.
Tomorrow we send three runners up to Ayr. We start the afternoon off with GEORGE CINQ who is desperate for a change of fortune. He certainly tries and hopefully he will give a good account of himself. Later on the card we are hoping FASHION LINE can get back into winning ways. Trying ten furlongs for the first time, hopefully this will suit her and as long as sufficient rain has arrived she will I am sure giver her all. Our last runner is HOT MUSTARD who goes into the race on the back of his recent Yarmouth win. He has come out of that race well and providing he settles nicely for Michael Kenneally he should be very competitive.
On Tuesday we have declared ALMAX at Lingfield. He is progressing well and showed signs of encouragement at Yarmouth last time.
