On Wednesday we started the afternoon off at Yarmouth where STONE RACES was taking her chance. Dropped back in trip on this quicker ground, she moved well through the race, but was outpaced over one furlong out and the step back up to six may just suit her better. Later on the card it was great to see a much better effort from ROCK OF LEON. Stepped up in trip he looked to be more comfortable over the distance of ground and it certainly was a much better effort from him. He should hopefully go close next time. Our last runner was ROLE PLAYER and he certainly looked as though he did not appreciate the faster ground and was never ever really travelling. At Haydock NAM HAI was another who was trying the step up in trip for the first time. He stuck to the far rail in the straight and the trip only found him out late on. He is sure to win again soon and hopefully we will find a race he can be competitive in.
On Thursday we started the day off at Newbury with BY JUPITER. She was stepped up a little in trip from her two juvenile efforts, and she seemed at home over this more suitable distance. She is sure to come on for the run and hopefully will do herself justice in handicaps over twelve furlongs. At Nottingham MANTOU gave an encouraging effort on only his second start. He was held up towards the rear and made some good headway over two furlongs from home. He was ridden along well over one furlong out and could make no impression on the leaders. Also at Nottingham SILVER MIRAGE was taking her chance. She was held up in rear and made some headway on the outer over three furlongs out. She was ridden to challenge well over one furlong out with every chance until driven and weakened inside final furlong.
On Friday we were pleased with the effort from FIERY SUNSET it was just a shame she could not get back up. She had been stepped up in trip on her third start and again appeared to take a strong early on. She deserves credit for staying on strongly to snatch second. This filly still has plenty of potential particularly if she can settle better and looks a progressive sort.
Today we had just the one runner at Chester which was PIAZON. He was caught three wide and could just have struggled a little bit with his first experience of Chester. His York run showed what he can do and he may just not want the ground this quick.
Tomorrow we have declared GOOD HOPE at Salisbury. She has been in good order and should hopefully give a good account of herself. She is going into the race in good form.
On Monday we have declared MADAME DEFARGE at Nottingham. Hopefully the ground will not dry out too much and she will be able to do herself justice. She is more than capable of winning in this grade and deserves to have her day.
On Tuesday our only runner is WEDDING WISH at Thirsk. She has not been running as well as she has been working at home and if she transfers this on to the racecourse she should be very competitive.
Today the horses worked on the Peat Moss Gallop
