Sunday 11th May

May 11, 2014

On Wednesday we started the afternoon off with NAM HAI at Chester. Towards the rear early on he was pushed along. He plugged on for four furlongs out, but was never a threat. The jockey felt he did not handle the track which can be the case at Chester. He has taken the race well and we will see how is work is before finding another race for him. In the evening ROCK OF LEON was pushed along on leaving stalls the stalls and appeared to run in snatches. He was ridden and made no progress over two furlongs out. He kept on in the final furlong, but could never trouble the winners. He did not appear to face the visor and maybe next time if kept off he will hopefully be sent to better effect.

WIGMORE HALL was our only runner on Thursday of the Chester meeting. He started slowly in the rear and was ridden over one furlong out. He plugged on inside final furlong and certainly shaped a bit better than his final position suggests. He has been off the track for a long while and will certainly improve for the run.

On Friday we started the afternoon off at Lingfield with DORSET GIFT. She never really got into the race and her work has certainly been better than she ran here. Later on the card MARWEENA raced prominently early on when she got slightly hampered and weakened to finish down the field. She is another who has shown flashes of ability and she is certainly better than the run would suggest. In the evening SILVER MIRAGE tracked the leaders and made some good headway over two furlongs out. She was ridden to chase the leading pair over one furlong out and was driven with every chance inside the final furlong. She looks to have a bright future now that she has been handicapped and was finishing to good effect. She has been of the track for 205 days and should certainly sharpen up for the run.

Yesterday we started the afternoon off at Ascot where FASHION LINE was making a quick re-appearance after her second at Windsor on Monday. She was soon beaten and gave her worst effort to date. Louis felt that the ground had gone against her and she was flat after her run last week. Later in the day GEORGE CINQ ran better than it might have appeared on last month´s Kempton return. He was brought through to press the winner inside the last furlong, but did not quite get home. He may be best over a little further these days and a mile just may suit him better. AROUSAL was our last runner at Warwick. She was slowly into her stride and made some headway over four furlongs out. She was soon ridden and could find no extra. She should hopefully do herself justice in nurseries which she is now eligible for.

Today we have sent RISKIT FORA BISKIT across the sea to run at Longchamp. She appears in good form and looks to have come on for her Bath run. It looks a tough contest, but hopefully she will give a good account of herself.

On Monday we have declared GRAND MEISTER at Windsor. He is a horse who looks to have wintered really well and could have the making of a nice prospect. He will possibly need the run and is sure to come on for it.

Today the horses worked on the Summer Gallop
