Saturday 12th April

April 12, 2014

On Wednesday we started the afternoon with BOURBON PRINCE. He chased the leaders and was ridden along well over three furlongs out. He weakened over two furlongs out finishing down the field. Jamie said he capable of winning a race, but would probably be seen to better effect over a longer trip. Later on the card ROCK OF LEON raced in touch. He was ridden along and finished mid field. He is now due a handicap rating and hopefully he will be given a mark that he can be competitive off. Our last runner at Nottingham was PIAZON. He was the slowest away, but appeared to benefit from the strong gallop set by the eventual winner. He looks like a winner in the making and is entered again at Ripon on Thursday. In the evening BIG ORANGE made a pleasing racecourse debut at Kempton. He travelled well for a long way on his debut on the Polytrack. He never looked like troubling the winner, but finished a clear second and should soon be winning races.

On Thursday INVOKE was our only runner and she made her return to the track at Kempton. She gave a respectable effort trying six furlongs on the all weather and giving a front running performance all for the first time. Hopefully we can find a suitable opportunity for her on turf before shortly.

On Friday we were pleased with the effort from FIERY SUNSET at Newbury. She raced in mid-division early on and made some good headway three furlongs out. She looked to get tired and faded inside final furlong. She will come on from the run and has the makings of a nice filly. In the evening we were delighted with the effort from SALTWATER CREEK if not a little surprised. She had finished down the field in a Newmarket maiden on her only start as a two-year-old. She settled well in midfield and took the gap when it presented itself in the final furlong to win going away. She possesses a good attitude and can hopefully on this evidence make her mark in handicaps if fairly treated.

On Monday we have declared our first two-year-old runner of 2014 at Windsor which is AROUSAL. She has been doing some nice pieces of work and it would be great to see her give a decent effort. It will then give us a line on our other two-year-olds and give us an idea how ready they are.
