It’s been amazing couple of days for team Fitzroy with our two declared runners going in over the last two days. It was especially pleasing to see FASHION LINE score on Friday evening after some time off the track. She has given two good efforts on her only starts and so it was particularly rewarding to see her finally get off the mark. She appeared to take a good hold and was held up well in touch in midfield. She tracked the leading pair over two furlongs out and was upsides the leader going best over a furlong from home. She was pushed clear just inside final furlong and won nicely. The steady pace did not really suit her, but she travelled like the best horse in the race and quickened smartly. She looks a fair type and hopefully we can keep her sound and she will be able to win again.

Yesterday TAUTIRA scored at Lingfield. She raced well in touch in a midfield position and was ridden when asked for her effort to challenge over one furlong out. She was driven to lead just inside final furlong and held on gamely. She appeared to appreciate being back on the Polytrack and stepped back up to her winning trip. She was never kept far away and took full advantage of the gap when the runner-up hung off the final bend. She showed a good attitude in the run to the line and on this evidence should be able to find another race or two like this. She is in the February sales next month and a win like this can only enhance her value. What was especially good about the victory was that it enabled our apprentice Louis Steward to ride out his seven pound claim and to drop to a five pound claimer. It also was a memorable day for her jockey as she was the first part of a double for him, the first in his career. Louis is a good, hardworking lad, who rides well and deserves all the success that his is having. Long may it continue!

We have a quiet time of things next week with no runners at present, but things are being geared up for Dubai with RUTLAND BOY and with only one week of trotting left everyone will be pleased to resume cantering.
