On Friday we had declared the three runners at Newmarket starting the afternoon off with a nice two-year-old colt called BORN TO REIGN. He did not appreciate the soft ground a slightly got stuck in the mud. He will certainly have come on for the run as he desperately would have needed it and will be seen to better effect next time when conditions have improved a bit. Later on the card it was great to see CRÈME ANGLAISE get back to winning ways with her owner Mrs Rowland-Clark in attendance. She took a keen hold and was held up in touch in midfield. She made some headway three furlongs out and was ridden to challenge well over a furlong from home. She led inside the final furlong and appeared to relish the conditions. She is in again at Doncaster on Saturday where she could move back up in grade to listed company. Our last runner at the meeting was VALEN and she ran with credit stepping back up in class to listed company. Held up in touch in the last trio, she was ridden and made headway over one furlong out. She kept on steadily inside final furlong, but got a bit unbalanced running into the Dip and kept on fairly well on the climb to the line to finish fourth. She will be a nice filly for next season and has returned to her owners stud for a winter break. At Wolverhampton we started the evening off with BOUYRIN. She ran with a lot of credit after some time off the track. She travelled well throughout the race, but always had a bit too much ground to make up on the eventual winner. She certainly looks capable of winning again. Later on the card sadly PENANG POWER failed to get her head in front in her contest and has now been retired to stud. Being so well bred, it was a shame she did not win a race, but she is a nice filly who will hopefully make up into a decent broodmare. Our final runner was OILINDA who made a creditable comeback after a break. She was leading with two furlongs left to run and was headed over one furlong out. She hung left when weakening inside the final furlong. She certainly would have needed the run and hopefully we can get another run into her before the December Sales. This afternoon we started the action at Nottingham with Rock of Leon. Slowly into his stride he was driven at the half way stage but could not get on terms with the leaders. Our next runner was BOURBON PRINCE who raced towards the rear and made some headway three furlongs out. He soon weakened and was eased in the final furlong. Both are big weak horses who are always going to be one’s to follow next season with another winter under their belts. Our last runner at Nottingham is HYPERLINK and on the back of his Windsor run you would have to give him every chance.
Later, this evening we start the Kempton card with SONG BEAM. She looks to have improved for the run and we are hoping she will give a good account of herself. She heads into the December Sales and it would be great to head into this on top of a good effort. BY JUPITER run in the next division of the race and likewise she looks to have done well since her run and appears much more streetwise this time. She is a nice filly who has kept improving since she arrived. We round the evening off with GAUCHITA and as long as she settles in her race she should give a good effort of herself.
